Map knowledge and basic game mechanics will save you on numerous occasions and will also often lead to getting the drop on a seasoned veteran. YouGÇÖd be surprised how many GÇ£veteransGÇ¥ still haven't got to grips with these skills and it will be these players that new players will easily be able to kill.
Although there can be a lot to take in and there will be a lot of SP to invest in; Logistics is a good choice for new players to choose, seeing how you come to learn many of the basic mechanics easily with this class, because of its versatility! That said, heres a snippet from a logistics guide I wrote for my corp for skill point investment.
Quote:Commitment is key with the logistics class as you will be investing a lot of skill points into equipment and the use of survivability moduals; shields or armor depending on your chosen logistics race. You do not want to rush into things and skill straight into a prototype suit, as you won't have the necessary; equipment, models, weaponry or the ability to fit anything!
If you are considering skilling into Logistics with an alt, youGÇÖll be better off making a new PSN account and make one from that; rather than using a spare character slot. Since SP is paramount with this class, youGÇÖll need all the SP you can get! So make a new account, this is so you can gain the passive SP earned every second (which only applies to one character slot per account).
Depending if you are using boosters or not, it will take you roughly 2 months to gain enough SP for a prototype suit (2,487,360 SP), youGÇÖll be better off spending that SP in gaining; CPU/PG upgrades, advanced equipment, moduals, weaponry and an advanced logistic suit to familiarise yourself with the role and trade tools. Because rushing into prototype suit will leave you feeling underpowered and useless; making you a easy target while at the same time losing a lot of ISK in the process!
Heres a basic step by step guide to help you in becoming the mercenary everyone will be asking for:
With the initial starting amount of 500k SP from a GÇ£new buildGÇ¥, you can skill into a basic racial logistics suit off the bat! YouGÇÖll need the following skills.
Dropsuit Command I Race X Medium Suit III Race X Logistics I Dropsuit Upgrades II Armor Upgrades I Shield Upgrades I Dropsuit Core Upgrades II Nanocircuitry I Repair Tool Ops I Total SP: 491,260 Total ISK: 1,608,000
From here onwards you're welcome to skill into which ever suits you best, but remember, equipment and moduals should come first; If you die your teammates are going to die, as you won't be there to save them! IGÇÖll be progressively recommending what skills are best for your next GÇ£levelGÇ¥ in amounts of 500k SP:
Up to 1 Million: Dropsuit Engineering 1 Dropsuit Electronics 1 Repair Tool Ops 2 Drop Uplink Deployment Armor Plating or Shield Extension 3 (Dependent on your chosen race) Armor Repair Systems 2
Up to 1.5 Million: Weaponry 3 Light Weapon Operation 3 Weapon X Operation 1 Explosives 1 Nanocircuitry 3 Dropsuit Engineering or Electronics 2 (Dependent if you need more CPU/PG)
Up to 2 Million: Race X Logistics Dropsuit 2 Armor Repair Systems 3 Armor Upgrades 2 Shield Upgrades 2
Up to 2.5 Million: Race X Logistics Dropsuit 3 Repair Tool Operation 3
Up to 3 Million: Armor Repair Systems 3 Weapon X Operation 3 Armor or Shield Upgrades 3 (Dependent on your chosen race)
With only 3 million SP spent so far youGÇÖll now be a fully fitted advanced Logi Bro. as you are now at advanced level; now is the time to fully familiarize yourself with your logistics play style; thinking about what to skill up into next.
Don't forget about your own tanking skills. Whether it be armor or shields, I'm sure youGÇÖll make the best choice.
I hope this helps o7
